Crispy fish tacos with a creamy slaw, inspired by Baja California flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish fillets (cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beer or sparkling water
  • Oil for frying
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Stir in beer or sparkling water to make a batter.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Coat fish fillets in batter and fry until golden, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Combine cabbage, mayonnaise, lime juice, honey, and cumin to make slaw.
  7. Warm tortillas.
  8. Assemble tacos with fish, slaw, and cilantro.
  9. Serve with lime wedges.
