  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (Gruyère or Parmesan)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onions, sugar, and salt. Cook for 25-30 minutes until caramelized.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Roll out puff pastry on a baking sheet.
  5. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pastry.
  6. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  7. Brush edges with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
