Delicious cookies with a rich chocolate flavor, topped with caramel and pecans for a turtle-inspired treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 24 soft caramel candies
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Press a caramel candy into the center of each cookie while warm.
  7. Sprinkle pecans on top and let cool.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Use unwrapped caramels for easier melting.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if too sticky.
