- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 6 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.
- Add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough forms.
- Divide dough into two discs, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Toss apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Roll out one dough disc and fit into a deep pie dish.
- Fill with apple mixture.
- Roll out the second disc, place on top, and crimp edges.
- Cut slits in the top crust and brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
