Soft and fluffy yeast rolls made from scratch. Perfect for dinner or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Punch down dough and shape into 12 rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use a thermometer to check milk temperature—too hot kills yeast.
  • Let dough rise in a warm, draft-free place.
  • Brush rolls with melted butter after baking for extra flavor.
