- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Spread apple mixture over the baked crust. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
