Delicious holiday spiced apple crumble bars with a buttery crust and spiced apple filling.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  5. Spread apple mixture over the baked crust. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.
