Ingredients

  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Combine grits, water, milk, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker.
  2. Cook on low for 4 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute.
  4. Add shrimp and cook until pink, about 3 minutes.
  5. Stir cheese into grits until melted.
  6. Spoon grits into bowls and top with shrimp and green onions.
