A simple and hearty sandwich filling made in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  6. Spoon onto hamburger buns and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef for less grease.
  • For extra heat, add a dash of hot sauce.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
