  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix cream, egg, vanilla bean seeds, and vanilla extract.
  5. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface. Shape into a 1-inch thick circle.
  7. Cut into 8 wedges. Place on baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
