A sweet and tangy apple cranberry compote that pairs well with pancakes, yogurt, or roasted meats.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine cranberries, apples, sugar, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until cranberries burst and apples soften (about 10 minutes).
  3. Add lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir well.
  4. Simmer for 5 more minutes until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
