- 6 cups sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Transfer to a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until mixture is crumbly.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm.
Notes
- You can use any apple variety. Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well.
- For a nuttier flavor, add 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans to the topping.
