Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Transfer to a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until mixture is crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  6. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use any apple variety. Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well.
  • For a nuttier flavor, add 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans to the topping.
  • Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
