Crescent apple dumplings are a quick dessert. You wrap apple slices in crescent roll dough. Then you bake them with a buttery sauce. They taste like apple pie without the work.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and core the apples. Cut each apple into 8 slices.
  3. Separate the crescent roll dough into 8 triangles.
  4. Place one apple slice on the wide end of each triangle. Roll it up toward the point.
  5. Place each wrapped slice in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange juice. Cook until the sugar dissolves.
  7. Pour the butter mixture over the dumplings.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The dough should be golden brown and the apples tender.
  9. Let them cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can serve these with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the microwave or oven before serving.
