1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
1 (20 oz) package refrigerated cheese tortellini
1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat.
Add the cooked sausage, tortellini, marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, heavy cream, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the crockpot. Stir well.
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
For a spicier version, use hot Italian sausage.
You can substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream if preferred.
