  • 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and core the apples. Leave the skin on.
  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Place apples in a baking dish. Spoon the butter mixture evenly over each apple.
  5. Pour water into the bottom of the dish.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Apples should be tender and fragrant.
  7. Serve warm. Spoon any juices from the dish over the apples.

Notes

  • You can use maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a different flavor.
