  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix pumpkin puree, milk, and egg.
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir just until combined.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface. Pat into a 3/4-inch thick circle.
  7. Cut into 8 wedges. Place wedges on prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • You can add 1/2 cup of raisins or chopped pecans for extra texture.
  • For a sweeter scone, brush the tops with milk and sprinkle with coarse sugar before baking.
