A simple and delicious slow cooker orange chicken recipe that requires minimal effort. Perfect for busy weeknights.

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken pieces in the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken and stir to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
  5. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  6. Stir the slurry into the slow cooker and cook for an additional 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Garnish with orange zest and green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
