Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water or chicken broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Heat butter or olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the rice, thyme, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour in water or broth and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff with a fork before serving.

  • Use fresh herbs if available for a stronger flavor.
