Make your own spiced chai concentrate at home with simple ingredients. Perfect for hot or iced chai lattes.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup loose-leaf black tea
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 10 whole green cardamom pods
  • 1-inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1/2 cup honey or sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine water, tea, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger, and peppercorns in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in honey or sugar until dissolved.
  4. Add vanilla extract and let steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a jar.
  6. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
