- 4 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup water
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the apples. Cut off the top quarter of each apple. Set the tops aside.
- Use a melon baller or small spoon to scoop out the core and seeds. Leave the bottom intact.
- In a bowl, mix the oats, walnuts, raisins, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spoon the oat mixture into each apple cavity. Press gently to fill.
- Place the apples in a baking dish. Add the water to the dish.
- Put the apple tops back on. Cover the dish with foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes.
- Let the apples cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute pecans for walnuts.
- Add a drizzle of extra maple syrup before serving if you want more sweetness.
- These apples are best served warm.
