Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  2. Wash the apples. Cut off the top quarter of each apple. Set the tops aside.
  3. Use a melon baller or small spoon to scoop out the core and seeds. Leave the bottom intact.
  4. In a bowl, mix the oats, walnuts, raisins, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Spoon the oat mixture into each apple cavity. Press gently to fill.
  6. Place the apples in a baking dish. Add the water to the dish.
  7. Put the apple tops back on. Cover the dish with foil.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes.
  9. Let the apples cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute pecans for walnuts.
  • Add a drizzle of extra maple syrup before serving if you want more sweetness.
