A warm and comforting dessert made with pumpkin puree, bread cubes, and warm spices. Perfect for fall.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups cubed day-old bread
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Place the bread cubes in the prepared dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, milk, heavy cream, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
  4. Pour the pumpkin mixture evenly over the bread. Press down gently to soak the bread.
  5. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow bread to absorb the liquid.
  6. If using raisins, sprinkle them on top.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until set and golden brown on top.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use stale or lightly toasted bread for best texture.
  • You can substitute half-and-half for the milk and cream.
  • Add chopped nuts like pecans for extra crunch.
