Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (32 ounces) frozen tater tots
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is brown. Drain the fat.
  3. Add the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, pepper, and salt to the beef. Stir until well combined.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  6. Arrange the tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the casserole is bubbly and the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  8. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce fat.
  • You can replace the cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken soup for a different flavor.
  • Add frozen peas or corn for extra vegetables.
  • For a crispier topping, broil the casserole for the last 2 minutes.
