  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples

  • 1 egg, beaten for wash

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and butter until crumbly. Add ice water and form dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Combine apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  3. Roll half the dough into a circle. Place in a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Fill with apple mixture. Dot with extra butter.
  5. Roll remaining dough and cover filling. Crimp edges and cut slits.
  6. Brush top with beaten egg. Bake at 375°F for 50 minutes.
  7. Cool for 2 hours before serving.
